Check out our top 10 tips to keep you motivated this winter...

  1. Find a running/walking buddy - On those cold mornings when the last thing you feel like doing is getting out of bed, the best thing you can do is have a friend motivating you to get out there. You don't want to let your friends down so you’re guaranteed to get out of bed and get that training run going.
  2. Stay organised - If you’re heading out for a run in the morning, get your running gear ready the night before so you can get up, get dressed and go! No time for excuses.
  3. Keep it interesting - Change up your running route. Don't let it get boring, run in the forest, along the beach, or around a lake! Whatever works for you.
  4. Stay hydrated - Drinking water in winter isn’t always that appealing but so important if you want to perform at your best.
  5. Do it for your wellbeing - It’s good for you in more ways than one! It releases endorphins and makes you feel good. Moderate running can even boost our bodies natural immune system. What a great way to help prevent getting sick this winter.
  6. Get a good sleep - Make sure you are getting your eight hours plus a night. It will make getting up in the morning a whole lot easier and you'll feel recharged and ready for the day. Plus getting a good sleep can help fight off disease..
  7. Make a plan and stick to it - Set aside the days of the week you will exercise and stick to it. Just make sure they are achievable, don’t be too hard on yourself.
  8. Dress for the weather - Invest in Winter running and walking gear. Don't let being cold drain you of all your energy.
  9. Tune in - Listen to fitness podcasts or anything that makes you feel motivated. If podcasts aren't your thing, listen to upbeat music that will get you into your running groove.
